Just a bit of a tease from Book 3: Les Fleurs du Malheur

Jacqueline finished tightening the last bolt. She straightened and startled to realize she was at least fifteen meters from the floor. She scratched her head. As usual, she was not sure how it had happened.

She surveyed the project, from the elegant Faraday cage of fine copper mesh, with a velvet sling that would suspend her comfortably within the electro-magnetic field, to graduated echelons of discs, cogs, sprockets, cables, coils, tubes, tori, and brushes. Her eyes traced the route of power from the initiator through the Jacquard trans-coordinator, up into the para-rotators. Static transducers would then take electricity from the alternating magnetic fields generated by the para-rotators to the augmentationary coils that drove the two hundred tertiary discs, sending it two-hundred-fold into the automatonic re-binders that lined the cage and refocused the power through dynamic coils into the subject’s own magnetic field.

If that didn’t excitate animal electro-magnetism, she couldn’t fathom what else could.
